History of the Kiwanis Club of Pawleys Island

Jack and Janet Eisinger began the Pawleys Island club in October 28, 1998. They were members of the Surfside Kiwanis and wanted a club nearer to home. The membership currently is around 30.

Fund Raisers: Barbecue (in conjunction with Hog Heaven) in October, Pancake Supper (in conjunction with Eggs Up Grill) in February.

Work with Georgetown Drug Task Force on KidsFest in May. Sponsor Kiwanis Kids Stage which features entertainment by young people.

Sponsor K-Kids (5th Grade Kiwanis Club) at Kensington School in Georgetown and Key Club (High School Kiwanis Club) at Waccamaw High School. Terrific Kids Assemblies at Kensington and Waccamaw Elementary Schools)

Support: Miracle League, JOY School (summer program for handicapped youth, provide funding and party at the close of the session), Out Reach Farm, Ronald McDonald House, Y Summer Camps, Baskervill Food Shelf, SOS (Service Over Self), Teach My People, Foster Children (birthday cakes and Christmas spending money), Scholarships for Key Club members, Red Cross Blood Drive (deliver posters), Hospice (help with Christmas Tree Festival),

Car Seat Safety though promotion of safety checks and WHALE Program. WHALE (We Have A Little Emergency) is a sticker placed on car seats (with child’s id and health history) and on windshields of vehicles to alert EMS persons there is a child in the car in case of an accident. Materials are provided in both English and Spanish. Over 3-thousand kits have been distributed.

The Club meets weekly (except holidays) Thursday 7:45 a.m. at Eggs Up Grill in Litchfield
